Population, Family Planning, and Reproductive Health

Submit Abstract

The PFPRH Section invites abstracts relating to Population, Family Planning and Reproductive and Sexual Health, especially as they relate to the theme of this year’s annual meeting, “Public Health without Borders”. This year’s topic is highly relevant due to our section’s dual focus on international and domestic health.

Of particular interest are papers and panels related to the ways in which immigration influences reproductive health, cross-national initiatives and south-to-south/south-to-north collaboration. We also seek submissions that address conceptual as well as national borders.

Our section welcomes abstracts from both international and domestic perspectives. In recognition of the important contributions young people make to our field, we encourage submissions to our new student poster session. An award will be given to the best student poster at our annual awards ceremony.

Abstract should be submitted along the lines of the following specific areas:
  • Abortion/post-abortion care
  • Adolescent sexual and reproductive health
  • Assisted reproductive technologies
  • Borders and barriers
  • Building sustainable capacity
  • Contraceptive use and contraceptive technologies
  • Emergency contraception
  • Emerging reproductive technologies
  • Gender equity and sexual and reproductive health
  • Gender-based violence
  • HIV/AIDS and STIs
  • Integration of reproductive health programs and services
  • Management and sustainability
  • Maternal and perinatal health
  • Men and sexual and reproductive health
  • Migration and sexual and reproductive health
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Policy and advocacy
  • Population and the environment
  • Quality of care/client provider interaction
  • Reproductive health among special populations
  • Reproductive health in emergency settings
  • Reproductive health rights
  • Sexual health and sexuality
Preference will be given to abstracts that feature cutting-edge concepts and innovations, best practices, and/or lessons learned from domestic and international programs. Abstracts will be judged on their contribution to the field of PFPRH, relevance to the theme of public health without borders, clarity of presentation, originality, methodology and breadth of interest.

If you are interested in organizing a panel, please e-mail Rebecka Lundgren at lundgrer@georgetown.edu with the proposed panel topic and participants. You MUST specify “APHA Abstract” in the subject of all abstract submission-email. All abstracts must be submitted and reviewed individually and if accepted will be placed into sessions at the discretion of the Program Committee Chair.
