Background:

Bangladesh adolescents' population is estimated to be around 30 million. This age group will contribute notably to the incremental population size of the country in the next twenty years. The total population is around 140 million in Bangladesh, and adolescents comprise around 22 per cent. Their number will increase to 2.9 million in the year 2020. Their number will increase to 2.9 million in the year 2020.

The study was done through the internet and literature survey on global and regional prevalence of adolescents, and analysis of the existing situation in Bangladesh.

Methodology:

The study was done through the internet and literature survey on global and regional prevalence of adolescents, and analysis of the existing situation in Bangladesh.

Result:

In a recent review about one fifth of the adolescents did not have any formal education. 16% of the rural and 20% of the urban slum girls were married. Soon after their marriage they became pregnant. More than half of them have one or more children.

Discussion:

Most adolescents do not have an apparent idea about the process of reproduction. Of the adolescents who knew about menstruation did not know about the fertile period, and about half of them were not aware that a woman could get pregnant after having sex only once.

Conclusion:

Information should be given in different capacities, such as in schools, communities, and workplaces. Making the health facilities adolescent friendly in our society remains a major challenge in terms of providers' attitudes, accessibility, equity, and quality.

Learning Objectives:
To exemplify and review the findings associated with reproductive health in Bangladesh and recommend measures to be adopted to reach adolescents in Bangladesh.
