171822 Grant subsidized and performance measurement on health promotion services in local government in Taiwan

The Bureau of Health Promotion is under Department of Health, Executive Yuan, the missions of the Bureau includes health promotion policy making, early detection of chronic diseases, health promotion and education, preventive health services providing, etc. To deal with the nationwide mission of health promotion of population, the Bureau set up a mechanism of budget subsidized and performance measurement which assure the local government to follow policy made by central government. Both central government and local government work as partners to achieve many comprehensive programs to take care of elderly, women, children. We conduct a “Three High screening project” to early detect Hypertension, Diabetes, high Cholesterols of adults and elderly which arouse people to pay attention to their health problems successfully. The Bureau made the annual performance indicators for 25 local government which implement the services related to community conditions. To achieve the objectives of health promotion The Bureau develops guidance documents and training programs for capacity building as well. We also follow PDCA model to review the procedure of budging and evaluation to revise the annual indicators according to the population health research data.
