173889 Whole health campaign: Current status and next steps

In 2007, the leadership of the mental health and substance use care communities came together to form the Whole Health Campaign. The purpose of the Campaign was to reach every 2008 presidential candidate and ask for endorsement of the importance of these fields to overall health, the importance of recovery-oriented mental health and substance use care, and the importance of research to improve services. This session will report on what was achieved with the presidential candidates and with the party platforms. Further, steps for the future will be outlined, and participants will be provided an opportunity to offer comments and suggestions.

1. Learn what the Whole Health Campaign is. 2. Learn about the activities of the Campaign in the 2008 presidential election. 3. Learn about and comment upon proposed future activities.
