At the 2006 and 2007 APHA meetings, input was sought from participants on the feasibility and advisability of APHA policy and action on the development of electronic health records (EHRs) and personal health records (PHRs). Taht input has been codified into an APHA policy initiative. This session will provide an overview of the initiative and its rationale, and seek the support of participants for its implementation.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand previous steps that have been taken to develop a policy initiative on EHRs and PHRs. 2. Understand the current status of the initiative. 3. Understand the role that participant's can play in promoting this APHA policy initiative.
