Puerto Rican elderly have been identify as a very religious/spiritual subpopulation. It is well know that religious/spiritual pro-social belief may influence life quality and promote healthy behaviors. This pioneer research develop and test a religious/spiritual scale in order to identify religious/spiritual attitudes in an elderly Puerto Rican sample that may affect their health. Emphasize was done in the psychometric properties via exploratory factor analysis of the scale. Descriptive statistics and correlations was obtained using socio-demographic variables and main scale items, that could provide a vision of the importance of this instrument in future health promotion research of minority elderly

Learning Objectives:
1.Audience will understand the importance of religious and spiritual attitudes in pro-social health behavior in the Puerto Rican elderly 2. Audience will be familiarized with the development and test of a valid and reliable instrument to assess religious/spiritual attitudes in a Puerto Rican elderly sample
