184855 Polish system for ensuring food and feed safety taken in the context of EU policyMonday, October 27, 2008
The current status of Polish legislation on food and feed safety is presented as well as the scheme adopted to ensure public food safety. This system of safety supervision covers the entire food chain. In Poland the crucial national food and feed control authorities that are responsible for safety are the State Sanitary Inspectorate and the State Veterinary Inspectorate, which act according to the regulations of authorities designated by the State as being competent. The foremost aim of food legislation is to ensure a high level of human health care and protection through appropriate laws. This is dependent on many factors and one of the most significant being food safety, which specifically includes the quality of food produced, and that which is then sold. Also discussed are how the RASFF system functions and its current experiences in Poland.
