185688 Curriculum Analysis on Public Health Informatics Degree, Certificate, and Training ProgramsMonday, October 27, 2008: 1:10 PM
Public health informatics training programs provided by higher education institutes were explored and their curriculum were analyzed. Reviewed training programs include doctoral degree, master's degree, postdoctoral, fellowship, and certificate programs. The credit hours, title of courses, duration of study, practicum requirements were identified from their graduate catelogs or program introduction through web search.
External funding resources for public health informatics programs are from National Library of Medicine, Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Most of the programs are named medical, biomedical, healthcare informatics or under College of Medicine. Besides, School of Public Health, School of Health Information Sciences, and interdisplininary units offer training programs. Suggestions in relation to the public health informatics competencies are offered to closely associate with the training program goals.
