188575 Digital Storytelling in Uganda and South Africa. An emerging strategy for participatory media-making in the public health context is digital storytelling, which brings people together to share their experiences in a closely-facilitated group process; assists them in recording first-person voiceover narration; and a variety of hands-on production methods to engage them in creating short digital videos. This session will feature digital stories created by/with former child soldiers and women who have experienced obstetric fistula (produced in Uganda), as well as stories by labor migrants from South Africa and Lesotho (produced in South Africa). Discussion will highlight ethical issues related to recruitment, workshop methods, and subsequent sharing of stories. Information: www.storycenter.org/.Monday, October 27, 2008: 2:33 PM
