Women who are HIV positive continue to be sexually active and many want to have children. This session will describe a model for types of support and interventions relative to the intention of the HIV-positive woman or couple to become pregnant. Included among these are interventions for prevention of unwanted pregnancy, prevention of transmission of HIV, protection of the infant, and protection of the mother.
Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to:
1. Describe intervention strategies for HIV positive women who do not desire to have children. 2. Identify intervention strategies for HIV positive women who may desire to have children. 3. Discuss intervention strategies to prevent transmission, protect the infant, and protect the mother.
Keywords: HIV/AIDS, Post-Abortion Care
