The American Public Health Association assisted state affiliates to strengthen infrastructure by providing financial and technical assistance resources. Through this assistance, the Kansas Public Health Association developed an innovative project to educate policy makers on public health concerns, and utilized the American Public Health Association's Get Ready Now Campaign resources to educate and train our and communities on emerging infectious diseases or other disasters. During this session Kansas Public Health Association will discuss the lessons learned from hosting 15 legislative health forums held across the state and share their experiences in utilizing the American Public Health Association's Get Ready Now Campaign.

Learning Objectives:
Describe innovative strategies to influence health policy through educational outreach to local and state elected officials. Identify tools and strategies to engage communities in improving their health and preparedness, utilizing APHA’s “Get Ready” campaign.
