Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers' (AHEC) Community Health Internship Program (CHIP)
Monday, October 27, 2008: 12:50 PM
Every summer, the Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program sponsors an 8-week, paid internship program that allows approximately 60 undergraduate and graduate students to learn about and engage in public health practice. Working primarily with local health departments throughout the state, interns take leadership roles on a wide variety of projects and programs, include community health assessments, environmental monitoring, chronic disease prevention programs, and many others. Interns gain real-world public health experience and provide a welcome infusion of new talent and enthusiasm to health departments. Wisconsin AHEC promotes networking and learning among geographically isolated program partners through a group weblog and regular webinars.
Learning Objectives: 1. To explore an innovative workforce deveolpment initiative in Wisconsin between area health education centers and local health departments
