191397 Electronic Personal Health Record – Healthcare Implications in Addressing Health Disparity for the Nation's Vulnerable PopulationsSaturday, October 25, 2008: 2:30 PM
Addressing health disparity for vulnerable populations – including racial and ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, and the underserved – is an integral component of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Consumer Empowerment Workgroup's input to the American Health Information Community (AHIC) to ensure widespread adoption of person health records (PHRs) overtime. The APHA HIIT has an important role to ensure that the racial and ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, and the underserved PHR recommendations recently presented by AHIC to the HHS Secretary are addressed. This presentation will identify these seven recommendations and facilitate a discussion on each of their importance to the HIIT SPIG in its current work and to support its planning for the 2009 APHA Conference priorities.
