Biographical Sketch:
Cheryl Blalock Aspy, Ph.D., M.Ed., B. S., received B. S. and M.Ed. degrees from Texas Woman’s University and a Ph.D. in Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation from the University of Maryland. She is a fourth-generation native of Quitman, Texas, and was named a 1999 Distinguished Alumnae Award Recipient of Texas Woman’s University. Dr. Aspy is a Professor in the Department of Family & Preventive Medicine at the University of Oklahoma where she teaches behavioral medicine to second year Family Medicine residents and studies the relationships between youth assets and youth risk behaviors. She is the author or co-author of six books; over 75 peer-reviewed articles; numerous book chapters and monographs; over 60 national and international presentations and workshops; and grants totaling more than $12 million. She has one child, Mary Christine who is a fourth year medical student at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
