Biographical Sketch: MONICA L. WENDEL is Director of the Center for Community Health Development at the School of Rural Public Health, one of 37 Prevention Research Centers designated and funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention nationally. Her research has included community-based studies in rural and underserved communities in Texas on topics including access to care, mental health, childhood obesity, community capacity-building, interorganizational networks, and social capital.
