Biographical Sketch:
Marion Becker, RN, PhD. is a tenured Professor in the Department of Aging and Mental Health Disparities at the University of South Florida. She is an experienced teacher and psychiatric nurse with a PhD in Social Welfare from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Becker has served as principal investigator (PI) or Co-PI on numerous outcome studies including the Women, Co-occurring and Violence Study (WCDV) jointly funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the national Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and the Center for Mental Health Services. She has also served as P.I. on a number of medication effectiveness studies. Dr Becker is an expert at secondary analysis of large data sets including analysis of Medicare and Medicaid data for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. She is a recipient of the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) Research Award for development of the W-QLI and her research on quality of life outcomes in mental health.
