Biographical Sketch: William C. Kerr, Ph.D.

Dr. Kerr received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California-Davis in 1997. From 1997 to 2001 Dr. Kerr served as the Project Director of the Collaborative Alcohol Related Longitudinal Project in the Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences at the University of California-San Francisco. Since joining the Alcohol Research Group in 2001 Dr. Kerr has pursued research utilizing both individual-level data from surveys and aggregate-level data from sales and mortality statistics in the areas of alcohol policy, the methodology of alcohol use pattern measurement, the decomposition of trends in US alcohol consumption and the relationship between alcohol use and health and mortality outcomes. Dr. Kerr also conducted an alcohol policy review and annotated bibliography and a summary of research relevant to the privatization of alcohol control systems for NABCA. He is currently an Assistant Editor for Addiction, a member of the editorial board of Contemporary Drug Problems and a member of the coordinating committee of the Kettil Bruun Society for Social and Epidemiological Research on Alcohol.
