Biographical Sketch: Kevin Alvarnaz has been the director of Community Health Improvement at WellSpan Health since April 2006. In that role, he is responsible for the system-wide development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives that promote community health, including the Growing Healthy coordinated strategy to address childhood overweight. Mr. Alvarnaz is presently coordinating school and community-based H1N1 vaccination efforts in a two-county region. Prior to his employment at WellSpan, Mr. Alvarnaz was responsible for statewide implementation of cardiovascular health, diabetes, obesity and tobacco cessation initiatives at the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
