Biographical Sketch:
Marcella Nunez-Smith, MD, MHS is an Assistant Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program (CSP) and on faculty in the Section of General Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Nunez-Smith completed residency training at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and fellowship at the Yale CSP where she also received a Masters in Health Sciences. She attended Swarthmore College, and graduated from Jefferson Medical College where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Nunez-Smith’s research focuses on issues of diversity and discrimination within healthcare settings. She was awarded the AAMC’s Herbert W. Nicken’s Faculty Fellowship in 2008 in recognition of her contributions to healthcare workforce diversity and health equity. Dr. Nunez-Smith has also been recognized for excellence in research and teaching with a number of additional awards and distinctions. She teaches medical students, residents, and fellows and remains clinically active.
