Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Mohamed Kanu is an assistant professor and interim director of the MPH Program in the Department of Health Administration and Health Sciences at Tennessee State University. Interested in the intersections between health promotion, disease prevention, health disparities and the social determinants of health, Dr. Kanu’s research interests include: Alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD), HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, obesity, access to care for global populations, and physical inactivity. Dr. Kanu has served as an evaluator and researcher on projects funded by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration/Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, Tennessee Department of Health, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, National Institutes of Health and others. Dr. Kanu was a Kellogg Foundation Emerging Leader in Public Health Fellow and has published in noted peer-reviewed journals on various health topics and presented at national conferences.
