Biographical Sketch:
Gisela Rots is the Director of the Cambridge Prevention Coalition in Cambridge MA. In this position she directs and coordinates all aspects of the Coalition’s work including, but not limited to, its Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Training and other environmental strategies, such as youth peer leader program, integrating electronic media into prevention efforts and social marketing efforts. Under her leadership, the Coalition received national recognition for its RBS program, winning the NASADAD Exemplary Award for 2007 Innovative Prevention Program. She also serves as the Adult Advisor to Team TADD (Teens Against Drinking & Drugs), a Medford MA – based youth peer leader group who have receive state-wide acclaim for their substance abuse prevention and youth leadership efforts. She previously managed prevention efforts in Medford MA, served on the planning task force for the first-ever Youth Leadership Institute for Massachusetts, served as a Research Assistant in a substance abuse research program and the Director of Member Services for Women In International Security. She has also worked with people working in prostitution both in Washington, DC and Mumbai, India, providing training and leadership-building skills to women in both places. She received her BA in Political Science-International Relations from the University of Maryland-College Park and her Master’s in Gender and Social Policy from the London School of Economics.
