Biographical Sketch: Steven Hecker directs continuing education programs at the University of Washington’s Northwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety, Region 10 OSHA Education Center, and NIEHS-funded Hazardous Waste Worker Training Program. In 2009-10 he led a collaboration between UW and Sellen Construction to develop and teach a green building and safety curriculum for the construction industry. Steve came to UW after a 26-year career at the University of Oregon Labor Education and Research Center (LERC) where he directed a series of NIOSH/CPWR-funded applied intervention research studies in the construction industry focusing on ergonomic improvements and organizational safety innovations. He has also done extensive curriculum development and training on health care ergonomics, young worker safety and health, and the aging workforce. Steve has a masters' degree in industrial hygiene from the University of Washington.
