Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Sidora-Arcoleo is an Assistant Professor at Arizona State University’s College of Nursing & Health Innovation, the Associate Director of the Center for Clinical & Trials & Healthcare Innovation, and a Faculty Fellow in the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Consortium’s Center of Excellence for Health Disparities Research & Training. Her primary area of research interest is health disparities within the Latino population of children with asthma. Dr. Sidora-Arcoleo recently received a $2.5 million R01 award from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine to test an integrated model examining the interaction of individual characteristics, cultural and experiential factors, social-environmental context, and healthcare system factors on parents’ illness representations of their child’s asthma, use of complementary and alternative therapies and controller medications, and children’s asthma health outcomes. This study will be conducted in Phoenix, AZ and Bronx, NY among a diverse sample of Mexican and Puerto Rican parents and their children with asthma.
