Biographical Sketch:
Tina Henderson, PhD, is the Program Manager of the Ladies of Diversity Program (LODi) at JWCH Institute, Inc. LODi is a HRSA-funded Special Projects of National Significance whose primary purpose is to address multi-level barriers to HIV care by enhancing and facilitating timely entry, access to and retention in quality HIV care for women of color (African American and Latina). JWCH Institute, Inc. is a private non-profit, medical services corporation that was founded in 1960 to provide free services for low income, medically indigent persons. Dr. Henderson received her doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she held an academic position as an Assistant Research Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. She was the Project Director and Facilitator for a NIH-funded multi site interactive U10 Government Cooperative entitled, HIV/STD Risk Reduction in African American Couples, a randomized clinical trial with African American serodiscordant couples. She was also the master facilitator to disseminate an evidence-based sexual-risk reduction intervention (ESHI) integrating an HIV and trauma curriculum targeting women with histories of child abuse. The California Endowment funded this project to disseminated to 10 HIV clinics/agencies in Los Angeles County. Dr. Henderson's research interests are in risk reduction interventions and addressing health disparities such as institutional and structural barriers, including religion and spirituality, which can further contribute to health disparities.
