Biographical Sketch:
Kay Loughrey joined ODPHP in September, 2007 and works on the health communication and e-health team. Kay brings a unique combination of health promotion, health communication, and social marketing experience. Her primary responsibilities are to manage a communication support contract and to provide communication consultation to ODPHP initiatives. Kay led the communication team that launched the HHS Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans in October, 2008. She continues to collaborate with agencies in and outside of government to promote the Physical Activity Guidelines. Through her efforts, nearly 4,000 organizations have signed up as Supporters to promote the Guidelines. Kay received her Master of Science degree in Marketing from Johns Hopkins University in May, 2006 with a specialization in strategic marketing. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Hawaii, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and dietetics from San Francisco State University. Kay also has a certificate in strategic planning, is a registered and licensed dietitian, and is a member of the American Dietetic Association.
