Professional History Prior to my employment at Brigham Young University, I taught at the University of Minnesota, School of Nursing and worked at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). While at MDH I was the Pandemic Influenza Coordinator, Immunization Practices Improvement Coordinator, and Healthcare System Preparedness planner. I also have local level public health experience – working as a public health nurse for Carver County Public Health. Immediately after graduation from Marquette University I worked in pediatric oncology/BMT for 4 years. I have extensive professional presentation (local, state, and national) experiences as well as multiple certifications in emergency preparedness. I am a Captain in the United States Army Reserves stationed out of the 807th Division at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, Utah. Professional Associations In addition to my paid work, I have been active in several local and national professional Organizations including the Minnesota and Utah Public Health Associations; the American Red Cross Board; American Public Health Association, Association of State and Territorial Directors of Nursing, Association of Community Health Nurse Educators, American Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International. Research Interests Public Health Nursing, Emergency Preparedness, Informatics, Infectious Disease Personal Facts I recently moved to Provo Utah in December of 2009. Prior to moving there, I lived in Minnesota for almost 10 years years. I am originally from Wisconsin - the Green Bay and Milwaukee areas. I loved Minnesota and find it's a great mix of a big city and a small town but am growing to love Utah just as much! In my spare time I love spending time outside being active. I climb, hike and bike on a regular basis. In addition, I spend a great deal of time with my family and friends. I am very active in my church and participate in multiple volunteer assignments. I read whenever I can get a free moment.
