Biographical Sketch:
Poonam Dhavan trained as a medical physician in India, followed by a Diploma in Health Administration and an MPH in epidemiology/global health. Before moving to the United States, she worked for over four years as a Technical Officer for National Capacity Building in tobacco control at the World Health Organization headquarters in Geneva. She has also worked as a consultant for the Public Health Foundation of India and is currently working as Research Coordinator at the University of Texas School of Public Health where she supports management and research on various chronic disease-related projects. She has a strong interest in the distal determinants of health and broader correlates of health with other sectors such as environmental issues. This presentation is based on a research paper she wrote during her MPH program, as a review of the role of dietary patterns in Man’s impact on environment.
