Biographical Sketch: Salma Shariff-Marco is a Research Scientist in the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). She holds a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University and a doctoral degree in social and behavioral sciences from Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Shariff-Marco recently completed the Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program at NCI and has stayed on to continue her research on measurement of discrimination in population-based health surveys and support the Centers for Population Health and Health Disparities initiative.
Dr. Shariff-Marco’s research interests include assessing the role of social determinants in cancer health disparities, understanding the context of health behaviors, and exploring methodological issues relevant to health disparities research in these areas.
