Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: Ms. Verónica F. Gutiérrez is Community Outreach Manager for St. Joseph Health System in Orange, California. She has extensive experience working on community outreach projects within underserved communities. Ms. Gutiérrez has conducted research in the area of Mexican immigrant healthcare access at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. She recently co-authored Equity of Access to Health Care in Four Latin American Capital Cities published in the in the Pan American Journal of Public Health. She has also conducted both qualitative and quantitative research on therapeutic communication while working at UCLA/ Borun Center. Ms. Gutiérrez currently serves as co-Chair of the Communications Committee for the Latino Caucus with the American Public Health Association (APHA). In 1999, she was a Fogarty Fellow at the Mexican Institute of Psychiatry in Mexico City working on two research projects examining return migrants and their physical and mental health status and another project examining depression symptomatology among migrants and non-migrants in Fresno, California and Western Jalisco. She received a B.A. in Sociology/ Anthropology with a concentration in Latin American Studies and a certificate in Spanish Language and Literature from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Socio-cultural Aspects of Health from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Public Health, Department of Community Health Sciences.
