Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: Alex J. Allen III is the Vice President of Community Planning & Research. Mr. Allen has been involved in various aspects of community development and related work for the past twenty years. For 12 years Mr. Allen has worked as an appointee of the mayor of the city of Detroit as the service coordinator/deputy director and later promoted as director of the Butzel Family Center (BFC), a multi-purpose service center housing more than a dozen family serving agencies and organizations that provide programming for more than 100,000 people.
Mr. Allen spends a good portion of his time leveraging community resources and support, and partnering where appropriate on community well-being projects. Mr. Allen has served on several community/academic initiatives including: Research Triangle Institute systematic review of the literature on CBPR approaches, Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program, W. K. Kellogg Foundation Community Health Scholars Program, and REACH Detroit Partnership. However, It has been his work with the Detroit-Community Academic Research Center and other organizations that has propelled him as an community expert on Community Based Participatory Research and Participatory Neighborhood Planning.
