This timely and interesting session will focus on recent infectious outbreak investigations in North America. Presentations will include discussions of rabies, norovirus, tuberculosis and malaria outbreaks.
Session Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to:
1. Describe an outbreak investigation for a potential mass rabies exposure
2. Describe how the emergency preparedness Point of Dispensing Clinic concept can be adapted to implement mass TB testing clinics
3. Prioritize food safety and handwashing education for all restaurant employees
4. Understand how staff from tuberculosis and substance abuse programs need to work together to control TB
5. Understand the importance of having effective control measures in place to prevent an outbreak especially when there are pre-existing risks
