4282.0 Annual Exploration of Injury Data Issues

This session will continue the tradition of the past decade of APHA meetings, where members discuss current issues in injury data. Topics that will be discussed in detail include an update from the World Injury Conference, the processes of globalization and implications for injury prevention, the Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System (CODES), the Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System (WISQARS), poisoning control, and improvements for External Cause of Injury coding.
Session Objectives: 1. Increase data expertise among participants. 2. Address difficult data issues and explore potential solutions. 3. Develop and disseminate advocacy strategies for data quality improvement.
