3108.0 Innovative Research Methodologies Addressing Asian & Pacific Islander HealthMonday, October 27, 2008: 10:30 AM
Oral
Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders are a growing community that comprised 5.3% of the total U.S. population in 2005 (U.S. Census, 2005). Given the diversity of this group, this presents unique challenges in understanding and addressing the health status of population subgroups. This session will focus on innovative theories, methodologies, and successful strategies that are being implemented to improve the health of Asian American & Pacific Islander communities.
Session Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1) understand various research methods that can enable understanding of health issues facing Asian and Pacific Islander populations; 2) describe settings/environments in which these strategies are successful; and 3) discuss how these methodologies can be utilized/modified for implementation in the audience members' own community of interest
