The Institute of Medicine recommends that environmental health be integrated into nursing practice. Environmental health resources and assessment tools that can be utilized by public health nurses will be reviewed as well as how to incorporate these resources and knowledge into practice.
Session Objectives: List the key elements for environmental health collaboration with community agencies. Discuss two environmental health assessment strategies for community-based agencies. List two key elements of a prenatal environmental health assessment. Identify sources of information and technical assistance available to public health nurses based on findings from a community environmental health assessment.
