Statement of Purpose and Institute Overview:
Breakout session for LI 1009.0 Beyond Borders: Establishing Community Partnerships for Reducing Cancer Disparities.
In this session, two brief perspectives on the CBPR principles and strategies for building and maintaining community partners to address cancer health disparities will be shared: one from the Pacific and one from the continental U.S. Next, session participants will share experiences, outcomes and lessons learned regarding principles and strategies in their local communities, and generate recommendations for essential elements for promoting community-based actions and research with Pacific Islanders.
Session Objectives: Recognize and describe CBPR elements essential to building partnerships with Pacific Ilsander communities.
Illustrate elements with practical examples from the field of cancer health disparities research.
