195446 Managing Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome with Yoga Therapeutics

This paper will present the results of an individual's use to use yoga as both a preventive and treatment protocol for diabetes and metabolic syndrome. It will discuss in detail the various yoga techniques used by the patient like meditation, breath control and asanas and how this impacted the patient's A1c levels as verified by tests performed by the patient's immunologist and endocrinologist. The patient's A1c levels were observed during the course of the treatment and fell by 1.5% in three months from 6.3 to 6.1 and saw an improvement in LDL levels as well in addition to weight loss.

Learning Objectives:
Identify specific yoga methods that are being used to optimize endocrine function. Explain why these particular methods have been selected. Describe specific cases where diabetes was managed by yoga therapeutics.
