Chiropractors and immunization: A review of literature and proposal
Monday, November 9, 2009: 2:42 PM
Chiropractors have not always appreciated the public health benefits of immunization for themselves, their patients, and the community. This presentation will review survey results regarding chiropractic attitudes towards immunization (in faculty, students, and practitioners). The safety and success record of immunization will be discussed. Last, a study protocol to evaluate chiropractic and acupuncture student and faculty attitudes towards immunization will be outlined.
Learning Objectives: - Describe previous research and outcomes regarding chiropractic faculty, student, and practitioner attitudes towards immunization
- Demonstrate the safety and success of immunization in the control of infectious diseases through a brief review of examples
- Outline a research protocol to evaluate chiropractic and acupuncture faculty attitudes towards immunization, as well those of their students who are either one program, or the other, or dual-degree seeking.
