Stan Laskowski, President PGWI , Department of Eart and Environmental Sciences, University of Pensylvania, Philadelphia, PA
There are many organizations in the cities and regions of America that take on a role in providing water supply and sanitation projects in emerging economies. Many organizations work on very limited organizational capacity, have a limited focus and stand to gain from better preparation, collaboration and synergy with other entities in their environment. The Philadelphia Global Water Initiative tries to become a hub for these entities, with a value added component of networking without competition and increasing social capital for the many projects these organizations undertake. Moreover, PGWI is able to take on the education and awareness raising of the general public and the civic leaders around the issue of global water problems and solutions.

Learning Objectives:
Demonstrate how locally structured networks like the Philadelphia Global Water Initiative, a multi-disciplinary entity of groups and individuals, can increased higher efficiency , and stimulate greater synergy of diverse outcome variables.
