Global trade issues of concern to organized medicine

The medical community has relatively little knowledge of or concern about trade agreements. One exception is the American Medical Association which has become aware and is tracking trade agreements and their implications for physicians and patients. The panelist will describe the process to getting to this point, important policy accomplishments to date, what are the principle issues of concern at this point, and what areas might/should medical associations be concerned.

At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to 1. Recognize the barriers to involving the medical community on trade issues. 2. Describe accomplishments and concerns of the AMA on trade; and 3. Identify potential touch points for involving physicians on trade.
