Internationally, mobile technology is growing rapidly and helping individuals connect to others and connect to information. This explosive growth of mobile use provides numerous opportunities to leverage mobile technology for health. The presenter will discuss the international activities that employ mobile information solutions for disease surveillance, health management information services, and patient relationship management. This presentation will include lessons learned from past work, and an in-depth analysis of the "text4baby" project and its implications for the intersection of mobile technology and public health. As part of a panel discussion, the presenter will also outline the future implications of international mobile outreach for health surveillance and health promotion.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to: 1. Describe ways in which mobile information technologies are employed in international arenas for disease surveillance, health management information services, and patient relationship management; 2. Critically discuss the intersection of public health and technology.
