211897 HRSA funding opportunities for public health nursing education and practice

This roundtable session will present information about funding opportunities for public health nursing education and practice through Title VIII, as administered by the Division of Nursing and other entities in HRSA. The session will provide an overview of the Advanced Education Nursing program funding for graduate education, The Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship programs, the Nurse Education Practice and Retention Program, the Nursing Workforce Diversity Program and the Faculty Development: Integrated Technology in Nursing Education and Practice. Examples of project achievements in each of these programs will be described, as well as student support programs administered through other Divisions and Bureaus in HRSA. The Nurse Faculty Loan Program will be described as an opportunity for loan cancellation for nurses who are preparing to be public health nursing faculty. Opportunities for employment in HRSA will also be described.

1. List the funding opportunities available to support public health nursing through the Health Resources and Services Administration, Title VIII. 2. Define the importance and meaning of funding factors. 3. Discuss how to address funding factors in completing an application. 4. List possible sources of support for graduate education and loan repayment and cancellation.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am the Branch Chief for Federal support for graduate education and practice, and have collaborated with schools of nursing and public health in enhancing academic and practice preparation for public health nursing. I have also worked in international health for AID and WHO and been faculty in schools of nursing and public health.
