The MPH is the preferred entry level for public health workforce leaders. The majority of the workforce does not have masters level public health training. This presentation will stimulate discussion about: 1.) The need to understand the level of training of public health workers and explore opportunities to offer the current workforce the competency-based training to meet current and future challenges. 2.) Initiatives underway in non-public health academic undergraduate majors to expand understanding of public health as a profession, to appreciate the science of public health and the value of ensuring public health.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to discuss public health training from the perspective of the local public health workforce. 2. Participants will be able to describe initiatives underway to increase awareness of public health and expand interest in public health training.
