Blue-Green Alliance: Good Jobs, a clean environment, a safer world

The Blue-Green Alliance is a national partnership of labor unions and environmental organizations dedicated to expanding the number and quality of jobs in the clean energy economy. Launched by the United Steelworkers and Sierra Club in 2006, the Blue Green Alliance now includes the American Federation of Teachers, the Communications Workers of America, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Laborers' International Union of North America, the Service Employees International Union and the Utility Workers Union of America. This presentation will discuss the mission, objectives, and structure of the Blue-Green Alliance, how it was formed, and the work it does on the ground regarding climate, clean energy, and labor law (the Employee Free Choice Act) legislation. The presentation will address the Alliance's work around these issues on Capitol Hill, as well as the benefit of having a labor/environmental partnership.
