Having fled drought and ethnic conflict in her native Mali, Mrs. Goundo and her husband moved to Philadelphia to raise three children, including two year old Djenebou who holds natural citizenship having been born in the US. But the Goundos are at risk of deportation, as Mrs. Goundo has to convince an immigration judge that her daughter will suffer genital excision if they are sent back to Mali.
