The United Steelworkers International Union (USW) continues to assist local unions confront various employer policies, programs and practices that blame workers when they are injured and that contribute to workers not reporting job injuries and illnesses. The USW has worked with many local unions and employers across North America to understand the nature and impacts of these behavioral safety programs. This presentation highlights the nature of these programs, their impacts and the concerns identified by the USW through these experiences of the past 15 years.
