Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: Ruth Passman is a Senior Health Policy Adviser working for the Department of Health in the Northwest of England. She is the Northwest of England lead for sustainable development, and has recently undertaken a full review of the regions’ SD plan and associated resources, developing a NHS NW regional carbon management strategy in response to the launch of the first NHS carbon reduction strategy in January of this year, establishing a Climate Change and Health learning and emerging practice network. Her career has spanned public health policy, regeneration and academia where she taught social policy, development and cultural studies at the Universities of Manchester and Birmingham. She has also coordinated the establishment of student peer learning programmes and access initiatives. Her academic interest in development studies links with a strong belief in the need to engage in global climate change and health initiatives through the WHO and other twinning, partnership and knowledge/ practice transfer arrangements.
