Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: My work history includes being a senior official in the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services. In that capacity, I was director for health planning for about ten years. I have been a faculty member of the College of Public Health since 1993. In that capacity, I taught health policy and leadership. I have been the director of the Public Health Leadership Institute of Florida since 1994 and the director of the Florida Center for Public Health Preparedness since 2001. In these positions, I have worked closely with several central office units of the Florida Department of Health and with many of the county health departments. I am currently overseeing two evaluation projects for the department. I have published articles in many education and health-related journals, including The American Journal of Public Health, The Journal of Public Health Management and Practice, Public Health Reports, The Journal of Health and Human Services Administration, The Journal of Health and Social Policy, The American Journal of Preventive Medicine, The International Journal of Health Care Quality Assurance, The Journal of Long-Term Care Administration, Academic Medicine, Hospital and Health Services Administration, and the AAOHN Journal.
