Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am a clinical social worker providing individual and group therapy and the Rape Crisis Coordinator at The Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center in New York City. I work primarily with minority populations. My main areas of expertise are in sexual assault, domestic violence, teen relationship abuse, adolescent health and mental health, immigrant health, and cultural competency.
I co-founded the Kalusugan Coalition (KC) a multidisciplinary collaboration to improve the health of the Filipino community in New York City/Jersey City. I was involved in coalition development and capacity building for Project AsPIRE, a community-based participatory research grant funded by the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, targeting cardiovascular disease among Filipinos. I have worked with the Mailman School of Public Health providing clinical and debriefing support to research interviewers working in the “Challenges of Adjustment to HIV Infection in Adolescents” project, also funded by NIH.
I have a MS in Social Work, Clinical Practice from Columbia University School of Social Work and an MPH, Sociomedical Sciences-Health Promotion/Disease Prevention, from the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University.
