5156.0 Epidemiology of Obesity

This session will explore the epidemiology of obesity in different populations, with an emphasis on gender and other demographic differences. Presentations will include findings from the CARDIA and ADD Health studies as well as kindergartners in Stamford, Connecticut. One presentationsession examines the association between obesity and illicit drug use, and another the impact of obesity on pulmonary function.
Session Objectives: 1. Describe the relationship between household density, television watching and obesity in adults. 2. Describe the association between obesity and drug use. 3. Evaluate the role of obesity in influencing pulmonary function.
