The purpose of this session is to present information related to adolescent violence prevention, associated factors, and interventions. Specific attention is paid to maternal and infant health risks among postpartum adolescents, the relationship of substance abuse and community violence, racial, ethnic, and gender difference among latino youth, parents perspectives on talking to teens about reltaionships, and barriers and opportunities to school based parent involvement.
Session Objectives: 1. Discuss parent perspectives on adolescent violence. 2. Describe adolescent risk and protective factors related to violence. 3. Discuss racial and ethnic differences in adolescent violence.
